📢 各位同學,大家好!歡迎嚟到 Advanced Grammar 第三課。今日我哋嘅主題係 "Perfect Modals"(完成式情態動詞)。

如果你問我,學英文 Grammar 最似邊種超能力?我會答你:係「時光機」。

現實生活中我哋無得返轉頭,但喺 DSE 入面,無論你係 Paper 2 寫故事、議論文要表達遺憾,定係 Paper 1/3 判斷作者對過去事件嘅睇法,你都需要一套工具去「回帶」。今日,我哋就要學識點樣黑入考評局嘅語法系統,操控呢部 Time Machine!


🧰 時光機的構造分析 (Anatomy of a Time Machine)

開車之前,搞清楚部時光機嘅底層代碼構造先。公式看似簡單:

$$\text{[MODAL (情態動詞)]} + \text{[HAVE]} + \text{[PAST PARTICIPLE (V3)]}$$

但我教書咁多年,每年都總有一大班同學喺呢啲基本位「文法炒車」。我哋即刻進行 Error X-Ray 掃描:

  • Might had called ➡️ System Warning: Modal 後面永遠、永遠只能跟 Base form,即係 HAVE

  • May have go ➡️ System Warning: Have 後面一定要強制轉成 V3 (Gone)

  • Should gone ➡️ System Warning: 貪快漏咗個 Have 呀!

呢啲全部屬於致命嘅 Careless Mistakes。喺 Paper 2 一出現,Marker 支紅筆一圈,即刻覺得你文法底子弱,直接封頂扣 Language 分。


🗺️ 大腦導航:Reality Check 診斷矩陣

落筆寫任何 Perfect Modal 之前,請在內心冷靜地問自己一個靈魂拷問:"DID THIS ACTUALLY HAPPEN?"(件事在現實中究竟有冇發生?)

呢個 Matrix 係你哋嘅大腦導航線路:

🟢 【YES ── 現實中有發生】 ➡️ 你的目的是「批判/後悔」
    📝 範例:"He shouldn't have rushed." (他不應該那麼急。── 隱含現實:他事實上急了,並搞砸了事情。)

🔴 【NO ── 現實中沒發生】  ➡️ 你的目的是「描寫錯失的機會」
    📝 範例:"I should have studied." (我應該要溫書的。── 隱含現實:我事實上放縱去玩了,沒溫書。)

🎛️ 【MAYBE ── 現實中未知】➡️ 你的目的是「化身偵探進行推測」
    📝 範例:"They must have forgotten." (他們一定是忘記了。── 隱含現實:我們不百分百確定,但根據線索強烈推測。)

🕵️‍♂️ Track 1:The Detective ── 掌控機率轉盤

當你手頭上有證據,但唔肯定過去發生咩事,你就要做偵探。請看呢度嘅 Probability Dial(機率轉盤) 潛規則:

📈 99% 邏輯肯定發生過 ➡️ MUST HAVE + V3

  • 📖 Example: 鎖匙不見了,大門深鎖。👉 "I must have left my keys at home." (我一定是把鎖匙留在家了。)

🌓 50% 機率有可能 ➡️ MAY / MIGHT / COULD HAVE + V3

  • 📖 Example: 答應了出席聚會的同學遲遲未到。👉 "He might have taken the wrong bus." (他可能坐錯車了。)

🛑 0% 絕對不可能發生 ── 【DSE 頂級巨型伏位!⚠️】

當推論過去「一定沒有發生過」時,很多同學會順着中文直譯,無腦寫出 Mustn't have ❌。

Marker 告訴你:大錯特錯!英文裡「過去一定沒發生」的唯一真理是 CAN'T HAVE 或 COULDN'T HAVE!

  • 🟢 "He was with me all day! He can't have stolen the car." (他整天都跟我在一起!他絕對不可能偷了那輛車。)


👨‍⚖️ Track 2:The Critic ── 換上 Level 5 嘅高級語域

當你想化身「毒舌評論員」,對過去嘅行為表達後悔或給予嚴厲建議時:

  • 💡 過去是個好點子,但你偏偏無做: Should have + V3

    • Example: "They got lost. They should have taken a map." (他們迷路了。他們本該帶地圖的。)

  • 過去是個爛主意,但你偏偏做咗: Shouldn't have + V3

    • Example: 食錯街邊嘢食搞到肚痛。👉 "I shouldn't have eaten that." (我真不該吃那個的。)

🔥 DSE Upgrade 獨家奪星技巧:

如果你喺 Paper 2 Part B 寫 Formal Proposal(正式建議書)或者 Article(評論文章)想衝擊 Level 5+,請徹底戒掉 "should have" 這種小學句型!

將其無縫替換為 "ought to have + V3"(否定則為 "ought not to have + V3")。

  • 🚀 高分範例: “The government ought to have consulted the public before implementing the policy.”

  • 💬 名師點評: ought to 一出,整個句子的 Register(語域)瞬間變得極具學術味與高階思辨色彩,Marker 一定會對你刮目相看!

🕳️ 深度拆解:'Could Have' 的雙重人格陷阱

Could have 喺考卷上擁有兩幅完全不同嘅文法面孔,初中生最容易撈亂:

  1. 🎲 面孔 A(Guessing - 唔肯定): "John isn't at school today. He could have overslept." ➡️ 意為「他可能睡過頭了」,純粹是一半一半的猜測。

  2. 🎭 面孔 B(Alternate Reality - 錯失能力): "John didn't study, so he failed. He could have passed if he had tried." ➡️ 意為「他本來有能力及格的,但事實上他肥佬了」。

🎯 DSE 實戰考點(Paper 1 Reading):考評局極鍾意喺呢度出 True/False/Not Given 題。如果文章用了面孔 B 的句子,題目問你 "Did John pass the exam?"你必須果斷投降選擇 FALSE,而不是 Not Given!因為 could have passed 隱含的殘酷現實就是「他最終失敗了」。

呢對詞是全港 Band 1 學生都經常分不清嘅重災區。兩者在中文都翻譯成「不需要」,但落到現實世界,結果完全相反:

(我出門前睇咗天氣報告知唔落雨,所以我根本無帶,一身輕鬆。😎)

🎧 DSE 實戰場景(Paper 3 Listening):錄音帶裡講者嘆氣說:"We needn't have rushed to the airport."考題問:Did they rush to the airport?答案是 YES!他們真的一路狂奔跑得好辛苦,只不過到埗後才發現班機 Delay 了。如果你聽不出 needn't have 背後那股「白費心機」的 Tone,填表題就會當場寫錯答案!

⚔️ 考評局弦外之音大拆解 (Reading & Listening)

考評局最鍾意在試卷裡測試大家能不能 "Read between the lines"(聽出/看出弦外之音)。我哋即刻上考場實測:

  • 📄 文獻/錄音原句:

    “If the traffic hadn't been so bad, the paramedics could have saved the victim.”

  • MCQ 選擇題問: Did the victim survive?

    • (A) Yes

    • (B) No

    • (C) Not stated

💡 偵探大腦破案: 如果你 Grammar 底子不夠好,見到 "saved" 就直覺以為是 Yes 或 Not stated。但只要看到 could have saved(錯失的平行時空結果),你就知道現實是殘酷的相反面。正確答案是 (B) No。學識拆解 Perfect Modals,你就等於看穿了 Marker 嘅誘敵陷阱。

⚡ 考前光速自我小測試:

  1. "I must have left my keys." ➡️ 鎖匙到底係咪留低咗?

    • ⚙️ 答案: MAYBE。我哋雖然依據線索極度肯定,但本質上依然是在進行推測,並非 100% 親眼看見的事實。

  2. "Jenny oughtn't to have told anyone." ➡️ 佢最後有冇講秘密出去?

    • ⚙️ 答案: YES!佢衰多口在現實中講咗出去,我哋依家正用高級語域「嚴厲譴責」緊佢。

  3. "He would have passed." ➡️ 佢最終有冇及格?

    • ⚙️ 答案: NO。現實是殘酷的,他最後掛科了。

Grammar 從來都唔係死記硬背嘅枯燥規則,它是幫你在考卷上還原真相、向考官精準表達情感與邏輯嘅終極武器。
